Starting a new job can be overwhelming. New systems, new people, new processes, new tasks, and the hope that everything you were promised during recruitment also holds true in reality.
At twoday, we want the first month to feel less like “onboarding” and more like becoming part of a team where your voice matters from day one.
To describe the first weeks at twoday, we asked two of our newest colleagues, Nicklas Thomsen, Azure Consultant in our Cloud Platforms & Security Team, and Nathasja Roland Olesen, Junior Bid Manager, to share their experiences.
"It's been a really good experience"
Nicklas, who has a background as an Azure Architect, has long been involved in creating IT architectures during initial contract work with clients. However, he began to miss a more hands-on role:
“I wanted to move away from only drawing and writing about solutions and also be part of building them. I got that opportunity at twoday.”
Nicklas describes his first days at twoday as “a good experience.” He especially highlights how meetings with several different departments were already scheduled from the start, giving him a quick overview of the business:
“I was surprised by how much effort had gone into preparing so many meetings for me from the beginning. Not only with my immediate team, but also with other parts of the organization, so my role was seen in a bigger context. That made me feel like my role mattered to twoday from day one.”

"You're taken by the hand"
Toward the end of her studies, Nathasja looked for a different career path than marketing, which she had previously pursued. She landed a position as Junior Bid Manager at twoday, which appealed to her because it gave her the chance to get close to the business.
When asked to describe her first weeks at twoday, Nathasja keeps returning to one phrase: “I’ve been taken by the hand.” She elaborates:
“I signed my contract several months before my start date, and it was nice that there was ongoing contact during that period. I received information along the way, so I never felt disconnected. I also received my IT equipment before I started, and meetings were scheduled in advance. That made my first day feel far less overwhelming.”
All in all, this made Nathasja’s first weeks feel safe and manageable, even though it was her first full-time job in a completely new field and industry. The clear structure and continuous communication gave her peace of mind, so she could focus on getting to know her colleagues and gradually take on tasks.

"The flexibility is tangible"
When you start a new job, it can take time to find your rhythm: when you work best, where you sit, and how to balance work and personal life. At twoday, that falls into place quickly because flexibility is a natural part of the culture.
Both Nicklas and Nathasja point to flexibility as a crucial factor in their daily work.
Nicklas says: “You’re hired into adult positions, and that means understanding your responsibility without needing a stopwatch hanging over you. Thankfully, I feel there’s freedom with responsibility here. And that’s exactly what I expected.”
For Nathasja, it’s about daily balance: “It really feels like a very flexible workplace. There’s a good understanding that every day can look different. Sometimes you may have an appointment or personal matter, and other times you give it that extra push when needed.”
"You're quickly becoming part of the team"
For new employees, it can be tricky to know when to listen and observe, and when to contribute. At twoday, we try to make that balance easier by giving new colleagues the chance to participate in conversations and tasks early on. This creates a sense of inclusion from the start — and shows that their input matters.
“I quickly felt I could share my perspective on things. And I’ve even received feedback from colleagues who think it’s great that I contribute actively already. That’s really nice to hear,” explains Nicklas.
“The team has been great at throwing me into things. Both by inviting me to meetings where I could observe and learn, but also by giving me parts of projects I could contribute to from day one. It’s been very much learning by doing — but at just the right pace, so I haven’t been left waiting to get started or overwhelmed with too many expectations,” reflects Nathasja.
"What we believe the first month should feel like"
At twoday, we believe the first month for new employees shouldn’t be about proving your worth — but about getting to know people, tasks, and culture by becoming a true part of a team from the very first day.
Nicklas describes his first month like this:
“It’s been a very professional and thorough process. I’m genuinely surprised by how streamlined and well-prepared it’s been. I haven’t experienced another workplace where I was integrated into the business so much from the very beginning.”
Nathasja describes her first month like this:
“I felt well taken care of even before my first day. That made it feel much less overwhelming. Things felt calm, and that made it much easier to take in all the new impressions that come with starting a new job.”
