The challenge: From fragmented data to strategic driver

Arbejdernes Landsbank faced a fragmented data landscape with siloed systems and manual reporting processes dependent on a few individuals.

“It was a bit like building a house on a swamp — we spent too much time maintaining and too little time creating value,” says Mattias Westergaard Clausen, Head of Data Insights and Platform at Arbejdernes Landsbank.

At the same time, the bank had defined an ambitious data strategy: to democratize data, break down silos, and turn data into a real business driver. Achieving that required a scalable, robust, and future-proof platform.

The solution: A future-ready platform with Databricks

After evaluating several technologies, Arbejdernes Landsbank chose Databricks.

“We wanted a market-leading platform we could trust — one that could grow with us and allow us to think AI and machine learning from day one,” explains Mattias.

The platform is now in daily use across key areas. Data is consolidated and visualized in Power BI, providing employees with actionable insights for daily operations. The bank also experiments with Genie, Databricks’ AI-driven chat interface, enabling employees without technical skills to query data directly and get instant answers — a major step toward true data democratization.

The collaboration: Twoday as co-builder and competence enabler

From day one, Arbejdernes Landsbank worked closely with Twoday, who brought experience, frameworks, and technical expertise to accelerate implementation.

“We chose a co-build setup — Twoday built with us, not for us. That meant we kept ownership while getting up to speed quickly. Our people learned along the way and are now well equipped to manage the platform themselves”, says Simone Vogel Kristoffersen, Senior Project Manager at Arbejdernes Landsbank.

Twoday also ensured strong organizational anchoring, aligning stakeholders across IT and leadership to drive understanding and adoption.

The results: Faster insights and happier teams

Although Arbejdernes Landsbank is still early in its data journey, the impact is already tangible.
Reporting that once happened monthly now happens daily. Manual spreadsheets have been replaced with automated dashboards, freeing up time for deeper analysis and customer dialogue.

Employees now have daily access to sales insights that create transparency, drive engagement, and strengthen customer relationships.
Through Genie, even non-technical employees can access data directly — and the first use case around leasing data is already paving the way for further initiatives in portfolio management, compliance, and AI.

“We’re confident we’re on the right path. The platform works — now it’s about scaling and building further,” says Simone. “We’ve moved from the 1990s to 2025 in a short time. The journey has been complex, but we now have a foundation that can carry us into an AI-driven future,” concludes Mattias Westergaard Clausen.
