  • Danish Crown is one of the world's leading food companies.

  • Supplying meat and processed food products to markets in more than 130 countries worldwide.

  • It has a turnover of around 60 billion DKK and approximately 25,000 employees.

The challenge

At the end of 2025, Global food company, Danish Crown was at a data crossroads. With two different platforms in use, its data was becoming increasingly siloed. They had to decide whether to renew the licenses of both systems in the coming years and also needed to upgrade their ERP system from SAP ECC to SAP 4/HANA. With support from Twoday and Innologic, Danish Crown gained a more complete understanding of its complex data landscape and have made informed decisions about the future.

Over the past two decades, Danish Crown had invested in SAP business warehouse technology (SAP BW 7.5) and more recently introduced Microsoft Azure Synapse analytics. Both platforms provided benefits to Danish Crown. However, as the organisation developed, it needed to be more strategic around its data – not least so Danish Crown could leverage the potential of AI.

A single vendor-neutral advisory team
To gain a better understanding how the existing technology landscape supported its needs today and could continue to do so in the future, Danish Crown brought in the experts. Innologic contributed with in-depth SAP domain knowledge while Twoday brought expertise in Databricks and Microsoft Fabric capabilities. Together they advised Danish Crown on the design of a future-proof, scalable cloud architecture.

The process

Creating clarity in a complex set-up
The analysis project started in December 2025 and followed the Twoday established assessment framework with its proven tools and accelerators. This work was supplemented with workshops with all relevant stakeholders.

Through this process, Twoday and Innologic broke down Danish Crown’s data landscape into different business areas, domains and solutions. This created a clear understanding of:

  • The most important business and technical decision drivers
  • The new capabilities required by the data platform
  • The domains, solutions and development in existing solutions
  • The strengths, limitations, dependencies, and roles of the different platforms

The results

  • A clear understanding of which platform best supports future needs
  • A solid foundation for future-proof development work that can leverage the potential of AI
  • More efficient investment in IT infrastructure

Ready for change
The analysis revealed that Danish Crown would gain the greatest benefit by investing in new SAP BDC, Datasphere and Databricks Lakehouse architecture. During the workshops, the Danish Crown team learnt more about the possibilities inherent in this set-up, so they are now energized about the change.

“Normally, when we face change there is often resistance. However, we’ve got a strong sense of commitment and enthusiasm around Databricks. People want to be involved because of the understanding they have developed through their dialogue with Innologic and Twoday.”
