Twoday expands to Bulgaria to meet the next wave of enterprise AI demand

Twoday is expanding to Bulgaria
Twoday is opening a new operation in Bulgaria, led by Stefan Tzanev as Country Managing Director. The move is a direct response to growing customer demand for AI, data, and agentic engineering capabilities. As organisations move from experimentation to large-scale deployment, they increasingly need partners that can provide specialist expertise, engineering excellence and innovation at a pace that matches their transformation ambitions.
Twoday combines deep technology expertise with strong industry knowledge across five key industries: industrial and manufacturing, health and life science, energy and utilities, financial services, and government. Twoday Bulgaria strengthens the engineering and data capabilities behind that industry focus, enabling customers to accelerate AI adoption, modernize critical platforms and unlock measurable business outcomes faster.
Over the past year, customer demand has shifted. Enterprises no longer want proof of concepts or isolated AI pilots. They want production-grade agentic systems and data platforms that hold up at scale, and they want them from a partner who has already done it elsewhere.
Bulgaria has developed one of Europe's strongest concentrations of engineering talent, making it an attractive location for building advanced Data & AI capabilities
“Our customers are making significant investments in AI, data and digital transformation to improve productivity, create new services, and strengthen competitiveness. To support these ambitions, we need the ability to scale specialist expertise faster and bring together the best talent regardless of geography. Bulgaria will play an important role in helping us deliver high-quality AI, data and engineering capabilities at greater speed and scale, allowing our customers to realize business value sooner," says Christian Pedersen, CEO of Twoday.
Bulgaria's technology sector goes back further than most people expect. In the 1980s, the country became one of Eastern Europe's major centers for computing and electronics, earning it the nickname "Silicon Valley of the Eastern Bloc." That foundation has grown into a mature software and engineering ecosystem, one where women make up around one in four technology specialists, among the highest shares in the EU.
Experienced technology leader to build Twoday Bulgaria
To lead the build-up, Twoday has appointed Stefan Tzanev as Country Managing Director and a member of the executive leadership team. Stefan spent over 20 years scaling IT services organizations, most notably helping grow MentorMate to more than 1,000 employees with Bulgaria as its engineering core. He holds a computer science degree from Georgia Tech and an Executive MBA, a combination that pairs technical depth with the experience of building international teams from the ground up.
"The future of transformation will be defined by an organization's ability to combine business expertise, engineering excellence and AI innovation. Our ambition is to build a hub that helps customers accelerate change, solve complex challenges and scale modern digital capabilities through highly integrated teams working across Twoday," says Stefan Tzanev.
Twoday will start by building a Data & AI team with a focus on Databricks expertise, where client demand is currently highest. The Bulgarian team will work as an integrated part of Twoday, alongside colleagues in the Nordics and Lithuania, and will also grow in the other core capability areas of Digital Engineering, Cloud Platforms and Security.
