"A large part of our revenue comes through Google, and we wouldn't have made it without it. We have achieved very good results with our Google campaigns." - Erlend Vognild, VPG

It all started with 3 guys and a common goal of delivering sports equipment of good quality at a good price. Now, 20 years later, VPG is one of Oppdal's key businesses, in addition to an successful online store.

Who is VPG?

VPG - Vertical Playground  is a store that sells premium equipment for steep outdoor activities. They also have one of Norway's best workshops for bike shocks and skis. The company was founded 20 years ago and today consists of a dedicated team with solid expertise. At VPG, you'll find highly skilled enthusiasts engaged in various sports themselves. Therefore, they can vouch for all the equipment they sell.

Why choose twoday?

VPG managed their own Google advertising, but after a while, time became a constraint. Maintaining top-quality advertising requires a considerable effort, and staying professionally updated consumes a lot of time. Consequently, they reached out to twoday.

We had heard a lot of positive feedback about the people working there and immediately established a good connection, says Erlend Vognild from VPG.

Since 2019, they have been regular clients and have not regretted it for a second.

This is important in a collaboration partner.

One of the most important things for VPG was to find a good sparring partner where they can challenge each other. They feel they have found this with twoday. "We wanted someone who sees the big picture and understands the market", Erlend adds, stating that the collaboration has worked very well.

Does Google advertising yield results?

VPG has a robust marketing department that does an excellent job. At twoday, we have primarily provided Google Ads advertising to VPG, and they are one of our major clients on Google.

The company has experienced substantial growth since twoday took over the advertising. The goal all along has been to increase results month by month. Having a good Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) is crucial for sustainable growth. In the first year of twoday handling the advertising, they achieved around a 40-50% increase in sales without increasing costs. "As of now in 2023, we see that the increase is close to 100%. When we talk about tens of millions, it starts to get very exciting", adds Porshad.

Porshad Hafezi is an expert in Google Ads and has worked closely with VPG. Along with other talented colleagues from twoday, he conducted keyword analysis and restructured the account. Keyword analysis is particularly important for a company like VPG that offers a wide range of products, including climbing, skiing, and cycling, in their online store.

"A good structure in Google is underrated, and you can achieve significantly better results just by organizing and categorizing your account", says Porshad.

Google advertising alone is not the only reason VPG has performed so well. Porshad mentions that they are good at thinking proactively and innovatively while understanding the market and target audience.

They dare to invest in what is relevant, and above all, they are extremely proactive all the time to improve and innovate.

VPG has excellent websites, relevant and accurate products, is proficient in social media, and has a strong SEO strategy. All of these aspects complement Google advertising and contribute to achieving better results. Together, we form a team moving in the same direction.

How important is Google Ads for the online store?

Advertising on Google is crucial for most online stores, and VPG is no exception. To reach new customers and generate interest among existing ones, Google advertising is an essential part of the marketing strategy.

"A significant portion of our revenue comes through Google, and we wouldn't have survived without it. We have achieved very good results with our Google campaigns" says Erlend from VPG.

Working together towards a common goal

When asked about their customer relationship, they respond that they experience the collaboration with twoday and Porshad as both professional and personal.

"We have a good and close collaboration. In addition to regular communication through Slack and email, we have regular physical meetings where the focus is always on results, budgets, campaigns, and future priorities. We are good at challenging each other, which is important in such a collaboration", says Veronica Vikestrand.

Porshad agrees, adding that he finds VPG to be a great customer to work with.

"It's really exciting to work with VPG. I feel a high level of trust from the customer, and the work we do is appreciated. This makes it a motivating customer to work with."

Furthermore, he mentions that he works with his clients as if it were his own company and, in many ways, feels like he is not working for them but with them.

"We challenge each other, and they dare to take risks when I suggest changes or something new. They are very knowledgeable and understand that the impact of what we do is crucial for their own development and growth."
